Ho'omau
In Hawaiian, ho’omau means to persevere, to never give up. It also signifies perpetuation—a commitment to continue in a way that ensures goodness endures. Jay Liesener was the living embodiment of ho’omau, and through the Surfgimp Foundation, we are dedicated to carrying forward his spirit.
The Foundation was established in November 2017, and since then, we’ve created an annual grant application process that has allowed us to make a meaningful impact. To date, we’ve awarded over 300 grants and contributions, totaling an incredible $560,000. Our recipients span a wide range of ages—from 2 to 70—and come from our local community, across the U.S., and around the world.
While each recipient faces unique challenges, they all share a common goal: breaking down barriers and embracing new opportunities. Whether it’s traveling, cycling, horseback riding, competing in team para-sports, enjoying the healing powers of the beach and ocean, surfing for fun or competition, or trying new physical activities, they demonstrate remarkable resilience and determination to live an active lifestyle.
With your support, we are able to help them achieve their dreams.
