Ho'omau
In Hawaiian, ho’omau means to persevere; to never give up. It also means to perpetuate, and to continue in a way that causes good to be long-lasting. Jay Liesener was the embodiment of ho’omau; Surfgimp Foundation will perpetuate and spread this spirit to others with physical challenges that seek assistance to follow their own dreams.
The Foundation was established in
November 2017. Since that time, we have established a once-a-year grant
application window through which we have awarded more than 100 grants and
contributions totaling $260,000. Recipients come from our local area, around the U.S. and around the world, range
in age from four to 64 and have very different challenges. What they all have
in common is a desire to break down barriers and expand their ability to
travel, bicycle, horseback ride, compete in team para sports, enjoy the healing
beach and ocean, surf for pleasure or for competition and try new physical
activities.
With your support, we are able to help them achieve their dreams.
