I made the decision to stay home to attend community college at 17 years old because I was too drawn to the ocean. A part of that was from my desire to chase waves, get a free degree, and most importantly, help people like my old friend Jay, who was an adaptive athlete. I have made the most of the last two years; traveling to places like San Diego, Australia, and Hawaii to help disabled surfers do what they love to do. I’ve been fortunate to meet so many adaptive surfers around the world, and I’m even more grateful to call some of them my close friends. Keeping them safe in the water gives me so much pride as a lifeguard, but it gives me more happiness to keep Jay’s memory alive. Help me run a half marathon for them…
