Kate: Even recovering athletes can make a difference! Having had a career ending back injury in gymnastics, I honestly thought my athletic dreams were over. But as I’ve recovered from two back surgeries, I have found a love for running and have used this to empower others. Others who believe that they can no longer chase their own dreams. I have used my own journey to show them that although you may not be able to reach the original dream, that does not mean you cannot find new dreams that take just as much time and effort to achieve.
Tony: In high school, I was a starting player on our Varsity Baseball and Basketball teams for Delone Catholic High Schoo. As a freshman and sophomore in college, I brought a group of engineers and business majors together to play a sport that most of them had never played. I enjoy playing sports, bringing communities together, and using my passion for sports to make a difference. Now, instead of participating in every sport, I am a teeball and flag football coach for my son, Landon. I hope to use this race to show him what you can accomplish once you set your mind to it.
